Message from the Presidency
One of the greatest sights that mankind has ever beheld is that of the empty tomb. Through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, every one of us has been blessed with the gift of immortality. That is an incredible gift; but it gets even better when we realize that we can spend our immortality in the presence of our Heavenly Father.
To do so, He asks that we repent, keep our covenants, take good care of each other, and never give up. Count me in. Together, Christ’s resurrection and his atonement become sources of eternal hope for each of us.
“I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” (John 11:25, 26)

Book Club ~ April 12th 2011
The bookclub will meet April 12 at 7 p.m. at 132 1st Avenue, home of Ila Marie Niemann. The book is Another Man's Gold by Rod Johnson. Rod Johnson grew up in Stevensville and graduated from high school here. His great great grandfather, James Stuart, settled just south of Stevensville. Rod Johnson has made his grandfather's story into a novel. Names and places are very familiar to me and, historically, I was most interested in Henry Plummer's gang as I grew up hearing stories about him and learned much more about him. His description of Burnt Fork Creek is so beautiful that I must drive up to the end again. As I read what pioneers went through to settle the valley, I was very grateful. The book is available at Stoneydale Press. I love to go there and look at all the books about Montana and the Valley.

March 2011 Message from the Presidency
I am so grateful for the Bishop's encouragement to read the Book of Mormon in 90 days. As I progress with the challenge I find I am blessed, just as the Bishop promised. I am blessed with a greater understanding as I read. I feel more deeply the emotions of the authors - their joy, their anguish. I am touched with greater force by more passages than at any other time I have read the Book of Mormon. One such scripture is found in Mosiah. Alma is secretly teaching the gospel to anyone who will listen. If he is discovered, king Noah will kill him. He preaches in private and he baptizes many in the waters of Mormon. In Mosiah 18:21 he commands them"...that there should be no contention one with another, but that they should look forward with one eye, having one faith and one baptism, having their hearts knit together in unity and in love one towards another." This reminds me of all of us sisters. The love, support and strength we share bring us closer together in our faith and purpose.

Book Club February 8th, 2011
Dale Burke, publisher and writer of the introduction to Lewis and Clark in the Bitterroot, will be at the Book Club on February 8th at 7 p.m. to talk with us about the book and especially about how the Salish Indians replied to writings by the white men in the Bitterroot. Look forward to seeing you there whether you have read the book or not. The books are available at Stoneydale Press, 523 Main Street. I go in the door right across the street from the old IGA store. Also Sherry, my daughter, made Lewis and Clark bookmarks for everyone. See you there. Ila Marie

Humanitarian Service Project January 29th
All Relief Society and Young Women are invited to come to the church tomorrow, January 29th at 10am-12pm, to help put together fleece blankets.
We are making fleece blankets for children that come to Emma's House in Hamilton. Emma's House is a setting for law enforcement and other agencies to interview children who have been victims of a crime. A child can often be subject to several interviews by different agencies seeking to gather evidence, often in intimidating settings. We would like to give some sense of comfort to these children in the way of a cozy blanket. What to bring:
Your favorite finger food to share and
if you have scissors, rotary cutters and or cutting mats
they would be very helpful.
We will also have childcare ;-)
Book Club February 8th, 2011
On February 8 will be Book Club. The book has been changed to Lewis and Clark in the Bitterroot. This is a most interesting book. My daughter, Sherry, made some beautiful Lewis and Clark book marks and she made enough for all who attend. See you at my home, 132 1st Avenue, Stevensville at 7 p.m. Ila Marie Niemann

Self Reliance Group
Our (Relief Society) Self Reliance Group meets every first and third Tuesday of every month (forever!) in the Primary Room at the Stake Center at 7 pm. The invitation is NOT just for Relief Society but for ANYONE interested in preparedness and long-term self-reliance. At least two men are regular attendees, so bring neighbors and friends of any persuasion.
January 5th class was cancelled because of threatening weather (and a broken copy machine) but on the 19th we will be re-scheduling "Illumination: When the Electricity Fails" - - everyone is encouraged to bring a lighting device that doesn't require electric power. The following class will be "First Aid In The Home: Training and Supplies" on the first Tuesday in February. Everyone who comes receives handouts and information, but the best part is the sharing of experience and information on each subject. Come late if you must, add to our Local Resources file, and exchange coupons, Noel 777-2735.
